Fall 2008 CESaME

Exploring the Roots of STEM Learning Series

CESaME is starting this year with a workshop entitled, "March? Polo!: Finding the Student Perspective in Your Science Teaching" on Friday, October 3rd in Fisher Science, Room 285 from 2-4pm. The workshop will be led by David C. Finster, a Chemistry Professor from Wittenberg University, and is the first event in CESaME's Exploring the Roots of STEM Learning Series.

Dr. Finster will help faculty answer questions like, why do some students like lectures, and others don't? Why do some students resist exam questions that ask "Why?", and why do some students enjoy class discussions and working in groups more than others. The discussion will center on the Reflective Judgement Model of student intellectual development and its application to undergraduate classrooms, assignments, and exams.

Light refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP to cesame@calpoly.edu by Friday, September 26th.
