Save the Date: New Faculty Orientation

September 12, 2014

The annual New Faculty Orientation happens on Friday, September 12, from 8:30am - 4:30pm on the second floor of Kennedy Library, next to Julian’s CaféThis is an opportunity to meet the Provost and other key support staff, connect with fellow new faculty, enjoy a catered lunch, complete some important tasks (payroll paperwork, campus ID cards, etc.), and choose among numerous sessions offering essential information valuable for starting your Cal Poly career. All new faculty (tenure-line and lecturers) hired in 2014, including Winter, Spring and Fall quarter start dates, are invited.

Student Engagement in a Flipped Classroom Using Team Based Learning

Team Based Learning (TBL) is not your typical teamwork experience. TBL uses the flipped classroom model to first prepare students for in-class activities. Then, by using a proven sequence of in-class activities, students solve problems and use the pre-assignment knowledge to go deeper into analysis.
